Community Guidelines
OUT Local™ is designed to make LGBTQ+ events, performers, venues, businesses, organizations, and community spaces easier to discover.
We want OUT Local to be useful, welcoming, accurate, and safe. These Community Guidelines apply to everyone who uses the OUT Local website, mobile application, forms, profiles, listings, communications, and related services, collectively referred to as the “Service.”
By using the Service or submitting content, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines, our Terms of Use, and any additional terms that apply to a particular submission or feature.
1. Respect LGBTQ+ People and Communities
OUT Local exists to support and connect LGBTQ+ communities. Content or conduct that attacks, degrades, excludes, threatens, or dehumanizes people based on an actual or perceived identity or characteristic is not permitted.
This includes attacks based on:
Sexual orientation;
Gender identity or gender expression;
Race or ethnicity;
Nationality or immigration status;
Religion;
Sex;
Disability;
Age;
HIV status or other medical information;
Body type; or
Any other protected or personal characteristic.
Disagreement is not automatically harassment. However, slurs, demeaning stereotypes, calls for exclusion, targeted misgendering, or statements intended to deny another person’s dignity or safety may be removed.
2. No Harassment, Bullying, or Threats
Do not use OUT Local to harass, intimidate, shame, threaten, stalk, or organize abuse against another person, performer, venue, organization, or group.
Prohibited conduct includes:
Repeated unwanted contact;
Targeted insults or humiliation;
Encouraging others to attack or harass someone;
Threats of physical, sexual, financial, or reputational harm;
Celebrating or encouraging violence;
Posting content intended primarily to ridicule or degrade someone;
Following a person across accounts or platforms to continue harassment;
Threatening to reveal private or sensitive information;
Making false allegations in order to damage someone’s reputation; and
Using reports or complaints to harass someone.
Credible threats or urgent safety concerns may be reported to appropriate authorities where necessary.
3. Do Not Out or Expose Someone
Do not reveal, speculate about, or threaten to reveal another person’s sexual orientation, gender identity, transition history, HIV status, legal name, private relationships, or other sensitive information without that person’s clear permission.
You may not post another person’s:
Home address;
Private phone number;
Personal email address;
Precise real-time location;
Government identification;
Financial information;
Private messages;
Workplace information when shared to facilitate harassment; or
Other nonpublic information that could create a safety risk.
Public professional information, such as a venue’s published address or a performer’s public booking email, may be included when relevant and accurate.
4. Use People’s Names, Pronouns, and Identities Respectfully
Use the names and pronouns that people provide for themselves.
Accidental mistakes may happen. Deliberate or repeated misgendering, deadnaming, or identity-based mockery intended to target or humiliate another person is not permitted.
Do not create performer profiles, venue profiles, or user accounts that falsely claim or alter another person’s identity.
5. No Impersonation or Misrepresentation
Do not pretend to be another person, performer, venue, promoter, organization, employee, or representative.
You may not:
Create a profile using another person’s name or image without authorization;
Claim a venue or performer profile you are not authorized to manage;
Falsely represent yourself as an owner, manager, booking agent, employee, or event organizer;
Use a deceptive username or profile to confuse users;
Create fake endorsements, partnerships, reviews, or event announcements; or
Falsely imply that OUT Local endorses, employs, represents, or partners with you.
Fan, parody, or commentary accounts must be clearly labeled and must not mislead users about their identity or affiliation.
6. Keep Listings and Event Information Accurate
Venue, performer, and event submissions should be truthful, current, and submitted in good faith.
Do not knowingly submit:
False event dates, locations, or times;
Fake ticket links;
Misleading prices or age restrictions;
Events that have been canceled or do not exist;
Performers who are not scheduled to appear;
Incorrect venue hours or addresses;

Submitters should notify OUT Local when an event is postponed, canceled, relocated, or materially changed.
OUT Local may edit formatting, correct obvious errors, request verification, or remove information that cannot be confirmed.
7. Only Submit Content You Have Permission to Use
You may submit photographs, videos, artwork, logos, event flyers, biographies, descriptions, music, and other materials only when you own them or have permission to provide them to OUT Local.
Before submitting content, make sure you have any necessary permission from:
Photographers and videographers;
Graphic designers and artists;
Performers and models;
Venues and promoters;
Copyright and trademark owners;
People identifiable in the content; and
Any other applicable rights holder.
Giving credit does not replace the need for permission.
Do not remove watermarks, crop out copyright notices, or falsely claim ownership of someone else’s work.
8. Respect Privacy and Consent in Photos and Videos
Do not upload photographs or videos taken in circumstances where people would reasonably expect privacy.
Content is prohibited when it includes:
Nonconsensual intimate imagery;
Secretly recorded private activity;
Images taken in bathrooms, dressing rooms, changing areas, or private residences without permission;
Sexual or intimate content shared without the subject’s authorization;
Content designed to shame or expose someone;
Images of an incapacitated person shared to humiliate or exploit them; or

Event photography taken in public or clearly photographed environments may be allowed, but submitters remain responsible for complying with venue rules and applicable permissions.

OUT Local has zero tolerance for content that sexually exploits, endangers, grooms, or abuses children.
Never submit or share:
Child sexual abuse material;
Sexualized images or descriptions of minors;
Requests for sexual contact with a minor;
Grooming or predatory communications;
Content encouraging minors to attend age-restricted events unlawfully;
Information intended to locate or target a minor;
Threats or abuse involving a child; or
Content that promotes the exploitation or trafficking of minors.
Suspected child exploitation may be reported to appropriate authorities or child-safety organizations as required by law.

Human trafficking or exploitation;
Unlawful weapons sales;
Counterfeit tickets or merchandise;
Money laundering;
Unauthorized access to accounts or computer systems;
Instructions intended to facilitate serious illegal conduct; or
Promotion of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or age-restricted activities to minors.
The listing of a lawful event at a bar, nightclub, or adult-oriented venue is not itself prohibited, provided the listing is accurate and appropriately age-restricted.
13. No Scams, Spam, or Manipulation
Do not use OUT Local to deceive users or artificially manipulate visibility.
Prohibited conduct includes:
Phishing;
Fake giveaways;
Fraudulent ticket sales;
Requests for payment through deceptive methods;
Repetitive unsolicited promotions;
Misleading links or redirects;
Malware or harmful downloads;
Fake accounts or coordinated fake engagement;
Buying or selling reviews, follows, favorites, or other engagement;
Repeatedly submitting the same event or profile; and
Manipulating categories, locations, or dates to appear in unrelated searches.
Sponsored or paid placements must be clearly identified when required.
14. Respect Venue and Event Safety Rules
Users should comply with applicable venue rules, event policies, age restrictions, security procedures, photography policies, and codes of conduct.
Do not use OUT Local to encourage:
Trespassing;
Harassment of venue employees or performers;
Interference with performances;
Bypassing ticketing or security systems;
Bringing prohibited items into a venue;
Evading lawful age-verification requirements; or
Disrupting an event or preventing others from attending safely.
A disagreement with a venue, performer, or organizer does not justify harassment, threats, or publishing private information.
15. Reviews, Corrections, and Criticism
Honest criticism and factual corrections are allowed. Users may share negative experiences, raise safety concerns, or dispute listing information when acting in good faith.
Content may be removed when it contains:
Knowingly false factual claims;
Threats or harassment;
Identity-based attacks;
Private information;
Unrelated personal disputes;
Extortion or demands for payment in exchange for removing content;
Repetitive campaigns intended to damage someone’s reputation; or
Reviews submitted by someone who did not attend or interact with the venue, event, or service.
OUT Local may request additional context or supporting information when reviewing a disputed claim.
16. Reporting Content and Users
Users may report content, listings, profiles, accounts, or conduct that may violate these Community Guidelines.
Reports may be submitted:
Through available in-app reporting tools;
Through the OUT Local website;
Through the Manage Your Data or contact page; or
By emailing hello@outlocal.com.
When reporting an issue, include:
The name of the account, event, venue, or performer involved;
A link or screenshot, when available;
A description of the concern;
The specific guideline you believe was violated; and
Any information that may help us understand the situation.
Do not file false, misleading, or repetitive reports to retaliate against another person.
OUT Local may not be able to share the outcome of every report because of privacy, safety, or legal considerations.
17. Blocking and Personal Safety Tools
When blocking features are available, users may block accounts they do not wish to interact with or see.
Blocking may limit an account’s ability to:
Contact you;
View certain profile information;
Tag or mention you;
Interact with your content; or
Appear in selected areas of your experience.
Blocking is not a substitute for emergency assistance. Contact emergency services if you believe you or another person is in immediate danger.
18. Moderation and Enforcement
OUT Local may review content before or after it is published.
We may take one or more of the following actions:
Request a correction or additional verification;
Reduce the visibility of content;
Add a warning or age restriction;
Remove photographs, text, links, listings, or comments;
Reject a venue, performer, or event submission;
Remove claimed-profile access;
Restrict particular account features;
Temporarily suspend an account;
Permanently terminate an account;
Preserve relevant records;
Report suspected unlawful activity; or
Take another action reasonably necessary to protect users or the Service.
We may consider:
The severity of the violation;
Whether the conduct was intentional;
The risk of harm;
Whether the violation was repeated;
The account’s history;
The context of the content;
Whether the person cooperated in correcting the issue; and
Applicable legal or platform requirements.
Severe violations may result in immediate removal or termination without a prior warning.
Apple and Google require apps featuring user-generated content to take meaningful action on objectionable content and user reports rather than leaving reports unaddressed.
19. Appeals
You may request review of certain moderation decisions by emailing hello@outlocal.com.
Include:
Your name and account email;
The content or decision being appealed;
Why you believe the decision was incorrect;
Any relevant permission, authorization, or supporting information; and
The outcome you are requesting.
Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reversal. Repetitive or abusive appeals may not receive additional review.

OUT Local is not an emergency-response service.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
To report an urgent threat involving content on OUT Local, email hello@outlocal.com with URGENT SAFETY REPORTin the subject line and provide the relevant account, listing, screenshots, links, and circumstances.
