We may use your activity within OUT Local to personalize your experience—for example, recommending events similar to those you saved—but this personalization occurs for the purpose of providing the Service and not to assign a sexual-orientation label to you.
5. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information in the following circumstances.
A. Service providers
We may provide information to companies that help us operate the Service, including providers of:
Website hosting and forms;

Protect the rights, property, security, or safety of OUT Local or another person;
Investigate suspected fraud, abuse, harassment, infringement, or unlawful activity;
Enforce our agreements and policies; or
Respond to an emergency involving a credible threat of harm.
E. Business transfers
Information may be disclosed or transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or transfer of all or part of the Service.
A successor must handle personal information consistently with this Privacy Policy unless users receive notice of a materially different practice as required by law.
F. With consent
We may disclose information for another purpose after providing notice and receiving your consent where required.
6. Selling and Targeted Advertising
OUT Local does not sell personal information for money.
OUT Local does not sell or share sensitive information concerning sexual orientation, LGBTQ+ interests, precise location, private communications, or account activity for targeted advertising.
OUT Local may offer sponsored or featured listings. A sponsored placement may be selected according to contextual factors such as city, date, event category, or the page being viewed. Sponsored placement does not give the sponsor access to an individual user’s private profile, precise location, attendance history, favorites, or follows.
If our advertising practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices, consent choices, or opt-out methods required by law.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website and service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, software-development kits, and similar technologies to:
Keep the Service functioning;
Remember preferences;
Maintain sessions;
Prevent fraud and abuse;
Measure website and app performance;
Understand how features are used; and
Diagnose errors.
You may be able to control cookies through your browser, device settings, or any cookie-preference tool made available on the website.
Disabling some technologies may affect Service functionality.
8. Analytics
We may use analytics providers to understand broad usage patterns, such as which pages or features are used, how users navigate the Service, and whether errors occur.
We will configure analytics to limit the collection of personal information where reasonably possible. We will not intentionally send private messages, uploaded files, precise location, or information expressly identifying sexual orientation to an analytics provider.
9. Push Notifications and Email
With your permission, we may send push notifications about saved events, followed performers, venue updates, recommendations, account activity, or other Service features.
You can disable push notifications through your device settings.
You can unsubscribe from promotional email using the unsubscribe link in the message. You may continue to receive necessary account, security, verification, legal, or transactional communications.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Service, resolving disputes, maintaining security, enforcing agreements, and complying with legal obligations.
Our general retention practices are:
Account information: retained while your account is active and for a limited period after deletion to complete the deletion process;
Favorites, follows, history, and profile activity: retained while connected to an active account and deleted or deidentified when the account is deleted, subject to lawful exceptions;
Venue and performer verification records: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to document authorization, resolve disputes, and maintain accurate listings;
Published listings: retained while relevant, unless corrected, archived, or removed;
Support and legal communications: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, document the request, and protect legal rights;
Security and diagnostic logs: generally retained for a limited operational and security period;
Uploaded files: retained while needed for the listing or authorized use; and
Backups: deleted or overwritten according to our normal backup cycle.
When information is no longer needed, we will delete, deidentify, or securely dispose of it, subject to technical limitations and lawful retention requirements.
Before publishing, establish an internal schedule with actual periods—for example, 90 days for backup deletion and 12 months for security logs—and update this section when those periods are finalized.
11. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information:
Through the account settings inside the app, when available;
Through our Manage Your Data page at /manage-your-data; or
By emailing hello@outlocal.com.
We may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request.
When an account is deleted, we will delete or deidentify information associated with it unless retention is reasonably necessary for:
Legal compliance;
Security or fraud prevention;
Establishing or defending legal claims;
Completing a transaction requested by you;
Protecting another person’s rights or safety; or
Maintaining a record of content authorization or copyright disputes.
Deleting an account may not automatically remove public venue, performer, organization, or event information that is independently available from public sources or authorized by another rights holder. You may separately request review or removal of a public listing.
Google requires account-based apps to provide both an in-app deletion option and an external web route, so keep /manage-your-data as a publicly accessible page when accounts launch.
Deletion can take up to 30 days.
12. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Regardless of where you live, you may contact us to request that we:
Confirm whether we process your personal information;
Provide access to certain information;
Correct inaccurate information;
Delete information;
Provide a portable copy of information you supplied;
Stop promotional communications;
Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
Review a venue or performer profile connected to you;
Remove an unauthorized photograph or submission; or
Explain or appeal a decision concerning a privacy request.
Depending on your place of residence and applicable law, you may also have the right to:
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
Opt out of targeted advertising;
Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
Object to or restrict certain processing;
Appeal the denial of a privacy request; and
Submit a complaint to a privacy regulator.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Submit requests through /manage-your-data or email hello@outlocal.com. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority.
An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and direct verification with the individual.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information.
These safeguards may include:
Access restrictions;
Authentication controls;
Encrypted transmission;
Secure hosting providers;
Logging and monitoring;
Software updates;
File-access controls; and
Limiting employee or contractor access to those with a legitimate need.
No electronic system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, lost, or destroyed without authorization.
You are responsible for protecting your password and device and for notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account or submit personal information to OUT Local.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If we learn that we collected such information without legally sufficient parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
A parent or guardian who believes a child under 13 provided information may contact us at hello@outlocal.com.
COPPA applies to services directed to children under 13 and to general-audience services with actual knowledge that they collect personal information from a child under 13.
Users between 13 and 18 should use the Service only with the permission and supervision required by our Terms of Use and applicable law.
15. Third-Party Websites, Ticketing, and Services
The Service may contain links to venues, performers, social-media pages, maps, ticketing platforms, and other third-party services.
Their privacy policies—not this Privacy Policy—govern information they collect directly from you.
OUT Local is not responsible for a third party’s privacy, security, payment, refund, or data-handling practices. Review the third party’s policies before submitting personal or payment information.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, OUT Local does not receive your full payment-card number when you purchase tickets through an external ticketing provider.
16. International Users
OUT Local is operated from the United States.
If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or another country where our providers operate.
Privacy laws in those locations may differ from those where you live. Where required, we will use legally recognized safeguards for international data transfers.
Before actively marketing or launching in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other international regions, this section should be expanded to identify the applicable legal bases for processing and international-transfer mechanisms.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in:
Service features;
Data practices;
Vendors;
Technology;
Legal requirements; or
Business operations.
When updated, we will revise the “Last updated” date.
For a material change, we may provide additional notice through the Service, by email, or through another appropriate method. Where required, we will obtain consent before applying a materially different practice to previously collected information.
